Aristotle, the Book Alpha Meizon (I) of Metaphysics

Marian Andrzej Wesoły

We present a new Polish translation of the book Alpha Meizon (I) of Aristotle᾿s Metaphysics, which attempts to express, more accurately and, possibly, more faithfully, its conceptual content and argumentative sequence. We have translated it both on the basis of the new edition of this book and on the recent studies on Aristotle᾿s Metaphysics. A brief introduction, giving thematic headings to individual chapters of this difficult text, as well as concise substantive footnotes, are meant to be helpful to the reader. We want to show the complex sequence of Aristotle᾿s arguments in his project of wisdom as the theory of first principles. This book Alpha Meizon is an important source for reconstruction of the early Greek and Platonic ‘unwritten’ philosophy.
